GUEST POLICY:
In order to fully implement the Bedford Area Family YMCA mission, To Build Strong Kids, Strong Families and Strong communities, the Board of Directors adopted a liberal Guest Policy. In light of the substantial increase in the membership of the Bedford Area Family YMCA, the Board determined it is necessary to revisit our Guest Policy. It is the Board’s intent to continue a Guest Policy that allows the Bedford Area Family YMCA to expose the maximum number of individuals to the Christian principles inherent in the YMCA philosophy and environment, used to build strong minds, body and spirit. Our Guest Policy must also balance the increased pressure of the magnified use of the YMCA with the need and responsibility of the Board to preserve, enhance and protect the Bedford Area Family YMCA premises, buildings, facilities, furnishings, equipment and other property of the Bedford Area Family YMCA for its dues paying members. Accordingly, the following constitutes the Bedford Area Family YMCA’s revised Guest Policy.

I. A.W.A.Y. Guests (Always Welcome at YMCAs) Program

The Bedford Area Family YMCA participates in the national A.W.A.Y. Program and honors visiting YMCA members in good standing as a guest. A.W.A.Y. guests are afforded the full and unrestricted use of our premises and facilities at no charge for a maximum period of seven consecutive days. To be eligible as an A.W.A.Y. guest your home YMCA must be at least 60 aerial miles from the Bedford Area Family YMCA and you must be a member in good standing with your home YMCA. A.W.A.Y. guests may not bring guests who would not otherwise be eligible as an A.W.A.Y. guest. If your home YMCA is within 60 miles of the Bedford YMCA (i.e. Jamerson, Lynchburg, Roanoke YMCAs) you may visit the Bedford YMCA once a week.

II. Member-Guest Policy

• Bedford Area Family YMCA members in good standing may have up to twelve guests per year. Members are allowed to have up to three guests on a single day. The same individual may be sponsored as a guest a maximum of two Occasions.
• Members shall pay a guest fee of $5 per guest per visit.
• Members and their guests must execute a Guest Agreement.
• Members shall be responsible for their guests following all Bedford Area Family YMCA Rules of Conduct, Rules addressing use of facilities and/or equipment.
• Members, as well as their guests, will be responsible for the damages incurred to the premises, facilities, furnishing, equipment or other property of the Bedford Area Family YMCA caused by their guests.
• Guests shall execute a Guest Waiver before using the Bedford Area Family YMCA.

III. Bedford Area Family YMCA Guest (Trial Membership)

The Bedford Area Family YMCA will sponsor as its guests, individuals or families interested in full membership for a two-week period. These guests shall have full use of the premises and facilities. The cost of the trial membership shall be $40 for a family and $20 for an individual. Upon completion of the trial membership, in the event the family/individual joins the Bedford Area Family YMCA as a full member, they will receive a $50 credit toward their joining fee.
